Collagen is the most abundant protein in mammals and can be found in various organs, e.g. tendons, ligaments, cartilage, blood vessels and dermis. Collagen I is a major structural component of the Extracellular Matrix (ECM).
Fibrous collagen:
Collagen type I is the most abundant fibril-forming collagen type. Our production process preserves this fibrillar structure to a large extent which allows the formation of ultrathin sheets with high mechanical stability and elasticity. No cross-linking agent is used in the production process which makes our collagen products highly biocompatible.
Industrial Process:
Our expertise is based on more than 75 years of experience in collagen handling and processing at our parent company Naturin Viscofan GmbH. The industrial production process, together with a thorough quality control, ensures a consistent high quality of our collagen-based biomaterials. Our analytical controls follow the guidelines of ASTM F2212-02, a standard guide for characterization of type I collagen as starting material for surgical implants and substrates for tissue engineered medical products (TEMPs). more mehr
